About Company:

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), (“HKUST(GZ)”), was officially approved by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China to enter the preparatory status in September 2019. Located in Nansha, Guangzhou, the campus covers 1.13 square kilometers and the first phase of construction is expected to be completed by September 2022. At steady state, the number of undergraduate and postgraduate students will reach a total of 10,000. Under the “Unified HKUST, Complementary Campuses” framework, the intended areas of focus in HKUST(GZ) will be thematic and cross-disciplinary in nature, synergistic with HKUST, a world-renowned international research university with innovation in her DNA. There will be four Academic Hubs (equivalent to schools) with 16 Thrust Areas (equivalent to departments).


Job Profile:

Job Title: VR-AR-MR-XR Engineer
Department: IEIP, HKUST(GZ)

As a key component of the Office of the Vice-President for Teaching and Learning (VPTL), the Institute for Education Innovation and Practice (IEIP) will take the leadership in helping the academic unit to develop innovative interdisciplinary curricula; promoting and implementing active learning pedagogy; and building necessary facilities to support innovative teaching and learning activities. IEIP will also take the responsibility to expand HKUST's influence in the global higher education sector by promoting the innovative pedagogy and quality assessment standards through international exchange activities.

IEIP is looking for VR/AR/MR/XR Engineer for its program in GZ campus. The appointee will be required to station and work in the Mainland, assist in the implementation of innovative T&L programs, and adapt the Chinese and English bilingual working environment of HKUST (GZ).

Qualifications:

Qualification Requirements
1. Master degree or above in VR/AR/MR/XR relevant Computer Science or equivalent area, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. Those with VR/AR/MR/XR competition, project practice or teaching experience will be prioritized;
2. Expertise of the VR/AR/MR/XR relevant technologies, hard/software development process, or project management etc., familiar with either relevant technologies of programming, engine, design etc will be prioritized;
3. Dynamic and energetic personality, caring, innovative, strong sense of responsibility, with outstanding communication skills and team work spirit;
4. Quick learner, can lead to learn new knowledge and technologies;
5. Excellent written and oral skills in both English and Mandarin.


Benefit:

This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST Mainland entity in accordance with the Mainland labor laws and regulations. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
