（Shanghai）Fudan University

Introduction

Fudan University was established in 1905 as Fudan Public School. It was the first institution of higher education to be founded by a Chinese person. The two characters, fù (“return”) and dàn (“dawn”) were borrowed from A Commentary on The Classic of History （《尚书大传·虞夏传》）, of which the part on the Yu and the Xia dynasties mentions: “Brilliant are the sunshine and moonlight, again the morning radiance returns at dawn.” In 1917, the institution was renamed Fudan University, which has been kept ever since.

Located where the Yangtze River Delta and the Pacific meet, Shanghai is China's most cosmopolitan city and one of the important global financial, shipping and trading centers. Admission
We offer 70 bachelor degree programs, 154 doctoral degree programs and 224 master degree programs to students across the world. We overcome language barriers to reach you by developing over 50 English-instructed programs for both undergraduate and graduate candidates.
Undergraduate Programs
Fudan University offers around 50 undergraduate programs to international students and also offers 2 English-taught undergraduate programs to international students, namely MBBS (a 6-year medical program) and UIPE (Undergraduate International Program in Economics).

Fudan University offers 175 master and 137 Ph.D programs to international students, 47 of which are taught in English.

Chinese Language Programs
Fudan University accepts international students for long term and short term language programs, general advanced and other tailor-made programs. International Cultural Exchange School, ICES, is the institution specialized in providing Chinese language and culture programs for international students in Fudan University.

Summer & Winter Programs
Fudan University International Summer Session and Winter Session will provide a 4-week course study and cultural experience to students from all over the world.
