A New Destination for Novelty Hunters to Be Opened in Xihu District

New life will be breathed into National Wetland Museum of China, and another cultural landmark is being erected at Xixi Valley. Good news brought joy together with New Year that there will be more destinations for backpackers.

Renovations are now at the final stage since Sept 2023. Anything new to spot? 
The floor is expanded from 7,800 sqm. to 8,500 sqm., housing four permanent exhibition halls each named “Meet Wetlands”, “Understand Wetlands”, “Xixi Wetlands”, and “3D Wetlands”, a digitalized showroom for immersive user experience. Aside from all thematic exhibitions on the third floor, the new “Natural Sea Flowers” will be a special exhibition for the re-opening of the museum.
To encourage visits, the hall space is also re-structured to save extra floors for the audiences. 
Some exhibits are preserved and placed into new backdrops. The old stone slabs from Xixi, for example, have remained in memory of the old life there.
The digitalized showroom is a big surprise. One inside will be enveloped with a 32.5m-long LED for an immersive experience. The video “For Lives” is a masterwork in shots, rivaling three IMAX films in resolution. It is also a well-planned facility for interactions, particularly the moving cards representing the wetland species.
The project M511 (Light & Shadow Imagination Center) in Xixi Valley, which is nearly completed, has come to a stage of interior decoration. It is scheduled to open in the second half of this year.
The location was the headquarters of Zhejiang Film Corporation. The ongoing Xixi Road Renovation translates it into a complex named M511, actually an urban space for digitalized content production, smart scenario creation, and integrated user experience economy.
The complex will have three buildings. Building 1 is for business headquarters, Building 2 is for immersive entertainment with music, films and exhibitions, and Building 3 is for a thematic hotel and audio-visual industry offices.
In short, M511 is for both business and pleasure. It is also a cultural facility for social and business networking, or a path into Xixi Valley to experience brand new lifestyles.
