Introduction
Established in 1981, AISG is the first international school in southern China, and the longest establish non-profit international school in Guangzhou.
We have been part of the Guangzhou community since our founding as an embassy school. What began with seven students from the US Consulate in a room at The Dong Fang Hotel has now grown into a top-tier preschool through grade 12 international school with over 1,000 students and more than 50 nationalities across two vibrant campuses.
Over the course of our history we have gained accreditation from leading learning organizations from around the world, including the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), International Baccalaureate program, and WIDA.
Alive and well at AISG is a shared desire for our great school to be an even greater one.
From our volunteer board members, to our dedicated faculty, to our supportive parents, to our hard-working students, there is a sense of connection and community. We all work together to continually improve AISG--to make it the best that it can be.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION
At AISG, our diversity strengthens us and provides a strong knowledge base from which we can learn from each other. It is our collective goal and responsibility to tackle injustice in all its forms. We strive to be the community our mission demands: welcoming, inclusive, and accounting for all visible and non-visible identities including but not limited to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, language, religion or other beliefs, gender expression, sexual orientation, cognitive and physical differences, and age.
We work to be an inclusive culture that supports each individual by actively empowering our diverse community through an asset-based mindset that focuses on identifying opportunities and positive outcomes. By creating an inclusive culture, we aim to ensure that all have a sense of belonging, are engaged in their learning and growth, and are valued, self-actualized members of our community. We believe that those who feel valued and engaged will confidently advocate for themselves and others, make a difference, and contribute to shaping their communities.
Child Protection
AISG is committed to the prevention of child abuse and to the protection of children in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, of which the People's Republic of China is a signatory.
This commitment means that the interests and welfare of children are the school’s primary consideration when any decision is made about suspected cases of abuse or neglect. We ensure that all children in our care are afforded a safe and secure environment in which to grow and develop. Educators, having the opportunity to observe and interact with children over time, are in a unique position to identify children who need help and protection. As such, we have a professional and ethical obligation to identify cases of neglect or abuse and to take steps to ensure that the child and family avail themselves of the services needed to remedy any situation that constitutes abuse or neglect.
Child abuse and neglect are violations of a child’s human rights and are obstacles to the child's education as well as their physical and emotional development.
AISG's Child Protection policy is aligned with stated Laws of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Minors. This Law was first approved by the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee in 1991 with a further amendment in 2016 to protect both the physical and mental health of children and minors. It is based on current legislation and the School has a professional responsibility to comply with it.
Learning
At AISG, success means more than just high grades. We strive to nurture the academic and emotional intelligence of our students, ensuring high levels of learning for all while encouraging each student to embrace their own personal potentials.
We’ve worked to develop and refine programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our students and crafted to balance American curriculum with an international perspective.
Our programs and systems are dynamic and driven by best-practice research. They are designed and taught by experienced educators who embrace change and embed technology in innovative ways.
As a result of this deep focus, AISG is one of only three top-tier international schools in the Southeast Asia region to have adopted the internationally-renowned PLC at Work framework.
The curriculum at AISG is our contract to the community – it is what we ensure each student learns, academic and dispositional, and is guided by our mission to nurture future-ready individuals to aspire, achieve and contribute through dynamic, compassionate and connected teaching and learning.
Our curriculum is constantly improving through a cycle of review based in research. This development is a dynamic and collaborative review process led by teachers and curricular leaders and informed by best practices and research in teaching and learning.
