The cloud and mist of Cuiyun Mountain is the gift of nature, and also a model of human’s protecting environment. Around Cuiyun Mountain there are other mountains, with large original birch forest. In addition to 70% of the natural birch forest, there are artiffcial planting larch, spruce and other species planted in recent 40 years. Now it has become a larger natural landscape of the forest in the west of Beijing. Large areas of woodland helps water conservation. so the beavy rain doesn’t cause ffood, and there is no stream in light rain. Therefore Cuiyun Mountain is called a mountain in cloud nd mist.
Here is the Great Wall Relic Park. The Great Wall here (named Changcheng Ling) was bulit in the Ming Dynasty, in the reign of Emperor Zhengtong. In Jingtai, Chenghua, Jiajing, Wanli years is had varying degrees of repair, and the ffrst large-scale renovation was in Chenghua 21 years (1485). The second overhaul took place in the 24th year of Jiajing (1545). During the Ming Dynasty, the Great Wall was overhauled 18 times and lasted for more than 200 years. The Great Wall in Chi City, Chongli and Longguan occupied an important position in the history of the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty.
